It is laundry day at my house. I wanted to take today and talk about the sustainable things you can do in your home during laundry day. The biggest thing is to make sure to not use too much water and not to use the wrong type of soap. If you don’t have a washer and dry in your home don’t worry! You can use a laundry mat and still be green!

So, few things I do the help be more sustainable when doing my laundry.
Use Cold Water. It helps keep your clothes in shape and also helps save energy. It also helps wash away extra soup from the clothes.
Line Dry when You Can. I do use a dryer pretty often. However, I do use line dry when I can. It is really easy to install an indoor line or an out door line. They are very inexpensive and easy to install.

Use sustainable soap. I use Mrs. Meyers. But here are the top 15 laundry brands for sustainable living.

Don’t Over wash. Don’t over wash your clothes. I don’t wash my jeans every day instead I spot clean them. I also hand wash some of my tops and delicates to save from washing them in the washing machine.

Feel free to share your sustainable living ideas, tricks and methods. Let’s learn how to save the earth from each other!
Tomorrow. I will talk about cleaning the rest of my apartment.
